Upcoming presentations, readings, recent interviews and reviews:

April 23 2019 The League of Canadian Poets has announced the shortlists for their annual book awards. I’m honoured to have my book, Body Work (Signature Editions, 2018) in the running for a Pat Lowther Memorial Award which recognizes the best book of poetry by a Canadian woman. I couldn’t be more pleased to read the juror’s citation: “Nielsen’s poetic representations of the body problematize an easy essentialism of parts. When theme and sonic ability are coupled with formal variability – Body Work features short lyrics heavy on repetition, list-like amalgams of parts, mobius strips, and weird footnoting wildness – and emotion to boot, one realizes Nielsen has created a jangling, energized series of body nodes meant to expand what poetry can do.”

The Lambda Literary Award finalists were announced March 7 2019 and I’m super pleased to say that Body Work (Signature Editions, 2018) is included! A HUGE CONGRATS to all of the finalists!! You can read more about the Lambda Literary Awards and the 31st Annual Lammy Finalists.

January 17 2019 The Department of Social Science in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies at York University will celebrate 13 recent publications authored by faculty. The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in Room S757, Ross Building on the Keele Campus of York University. All are welcome to attend this event. Light refreshments will be served. I will be there with Body Work and Disrupting Breast Cancer Narratives: Stories of Rage and Repair, which is now out in print! For more information see this article in y File: York University’s News.

I had the pleasure of being apart of the Common Readings in August 2018 at Campbell House Museum in Toronto and reading with Jessie Jones and Marc di Saverio. Many thanks to Daniel Renton for the invite and for organizing such a fantastic series. Check it out here: Common Readings

May 16 2018 I was live on radio with Michael James and Thea Bowering on the fantastic program WORD CJSR 88.5 in Edmonton. Thankful for the opportunity to talk about my recently published poetry collection Body Work and a bunch of other stuff too. (At least I think so, the hour went by so quickly!)
