Teaching

In 2015, the University of British Columbia named Dr. Nielsen a Top Instructor as student evaluations placed her in the top 10% of all professors in the Faculty of Arts. In all of Emilia’s courses, she incorporates diverse materials from the social sciences, humanities and arts with innovative strategies to engage students in critical thinking and political activism. From an intersectional feminist perspective, Emilia teaches courses on gender, sexuality, culture, literature, health and disability.
